CAUGHT IN AN AMBUSH
                                               By Wayne Lund

More soldiers are being to fight in that war torn land far across the deep blue sea,
Our Governments sending us to fight in that bloody war where none of us want to be.

Here in Viet-Nam the jungle growth is so thick we can’t tell if it’s day or night,
But, no matter the time of day, we’re always ready to face any firefight.

Moving slowly through this jungle for we know the enemy is close around,
Out on this mission, we’re taking our time trying not to make a sound.

Slowly we’re starting down a vine covered trail, our point man shouts, the VC’s been found,
But, we were caught in an ambush, opening fire with our weapons we quickly hit the ground.

Hearing men screaming in pain knowing some were close friends,
Keeping up a steady rate of fire, we’re praying that this fight soon ends.
