Joe Hernandez joined as Life Member. Army 1969 Assigned to Infantry 25th INF Div. doing a tour of Vietnam in the Armored Personnel Carrier Division. Patriot Hernandez was awarded Purple Heart Medal and Bronze Star for Valor.
Col. Castillo, JROTC Program Officer needs more volunteers to present awards at JROTC functions at high schools.
Adjutant Bill Johnson asking for RSVP for the upcoming Founder’s Day Dinner to be held at Ft. Sam Houston Golf Ball Room, 6pm on Feb. 17th.
Patriot and Dept. Welfare Officer Pete Rosie reminded all members at ECTC is having their Bingo Night on Monday Jan 16th on the second floor ECTC game room and needs volunteers to help out the veterans with their bingo cards and to service the snacks afterwards. The Ladies Auxiliary will be giving out a total of $300 in money prizes and needs your support. The event will be from 6pm (setup) until 8:30pm.
Patriot Rosie also asked for more donations of old cell phones for “Cell Phones for Soldiers” program. Drop boxes are located at each clinic and at the VA hospital. In return for the donated cell
phones Pete (or the Chapter) receives Phone Gift Cards that are given out to soldiers or veterans.
New MOPH member, Michael Harwood, was recognized and welcomed to the Chapter.
Jesse Villarreal is welcoming volunteers to participate in the scheduled Alamo Army Ball in June at VFW Post 9186 located at the Veterans Blvd. by the Old Mission Outdoor Theater. A BBQ Fund Raiser for the Ball is being organized at the Drop Zone patio area on March 2nd for $6 a plate. Committee members are from Alamo Silver Wings, VFW, and MOPH organizations. The committee is always welcoming anyone interested in participating in this new event.
Patriot and Past Commander Crumlett gave an update on the Purple Heart Trail. 16 new signs are to be erected at $2500 per sign.
